Caglianone Powers Kansas City
Jac Caglianone delivered the decisive blows in the sixth inning, hitting back-to-back home runs to help the Kansas City Royals secure a 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. The two long balls, one a solo shot and the other a two-run drive, shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the home team at Kauffman Stadium.
Caglianone’s first home run came in the fifth inning, a 421-foot blast to right center that cut the Rangers’ lead to 2-1. Just an inning later, he provided the go-ahead runs with a 431-foot home run to right center that also scored Salvador Perez, giving Kansas City a 5-2 advantage. These two hits accounted for all five of the Royals' runs in the game.
Rangers Take Early Lead
The Rangers opened the scoring in the second inning when Michael Langford singled to left, allowing Adolis Garcia to score for a 1-0 lead. Texas extended that advantage in the fourth inning when Corey Seager scored on a throwing error by Royals catcher Austin Hedges, making it 2-0.
Another throwing error by Hedges later in the fourth inning allowed Seager to score again, though the box score indicates the run was charged to the pitcher rather than a separate play, keeping the score at 2-0 before the Royals responded.
Late Rally Falls Short
Texas managed to narrow the deficit in the sixth inning when Josh Smith tripled to right, allowing Seager to score and make it 2-1. However, the Rangers’ offense stalled after Caglianone’s second homer. In the seventh inning, Seager grounded out to first, allowing Andrew Benintendi to score, making the final score 5-3.
