The Twins established early control in the first inning. Larnach launched a 425-foot home run to right field to open the scoring. Later in the frame, Bell singled to left, allowing Buxton to cross the plate for a 2-0 lead.
Minnesota expanded its advantage significantly in the third inning when Clemens homered 367 feet to right field, driving in Larnach and Buxton to make it 5-0.
